Contemporary kitchen in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Genesis Interiors recently built and installed the new kitchen in a luxury residence on Mola Street on the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, riverfront. Part of a larger renovation of this striking contemporary house, the kitchen project was “right up our alley” thanks to the expertise of our Italian and American Genesis craftsmen, and the fact that our U.S. manufacturing facility is just a few miles away.

The design goal for the upscale kitchen, which measures more than 500 square feet, was to maintain sleek, clean lines and showcase the beautiful views of the river outside. The kitchen features a large island, abundant counter space, a wall fitted for ovens, built-in and paneled refrigerator columns, multiple storage drawers and cabinets, and a hidden pantry. Aran N. Swart, principal designer of Roost Creative, supervised the design and coordinated the project.

Genesis artisans hand-crafted the cabinetry at our facility and pre-assembled it there in order to ensure a perfect fit. Seven workers were involved in the project, including two carpenters, four installers, two painters, and the operator of our five-point CNC machine. They also used a sanding machine, edge banding machine, and table saws –all high-end equipment manufactured by the Italian brand Biesse. Then we disassembled the cabinetry, trucked it to the Mola house and installed the kitchen, while working around the general contractor’s schedule and respecting the owner’s privacy.

The contrast between the white lacquered and dark gray components give the kitchen an elegant contemporary ambiance. A unique design element is the lack of exterior drawer handware, which enhances the sleek lines of the finished cabinetry.

“As far as the woodwork is concerned, I played a part in the design and look of the finger-pull handles as well as layout and where they were to be placed. I worked closely with the homeowner on this and then worked with [Genesis Interiors] to ensure that the actual cabinets themselves were laid out to owner’s liking,” said Aran Swart. “I was involved in helping them choose the finishes of cabinets as well as [their] interiors. Due to the complexity of the appliances, we had to really be involved in how the cabinets worked with them as well as placement.”
